Options Trading Championship 2007 Cont'd

The OTC was an exciting event. I felt great being a participant of an internationally recognised event which was run concurrently in Singapore and Indonesia as well. The M'sian venue was in Global Business Park, SS19. First impression of the building was "huh?? This kind of place??! Sure or not?". The building is right in middle of an industrial zone and looks run down.

When we entered the building, other participants were green with envy after seeing our team t-shirts. Friends from success Resources were also impressed with our effort. Yeah we really showed them that we are out to win the prize.

The calm before the trading storm

Despite of the drab looking building, the inside of the function room is a world of difference. We were relieved that the deco and finishing was nice and trading stations were clean, spacious and neatly laid out. Even the lighting, sound and internet speed were impressive. The OTC had 60 participants in M'sia, approx 90 in Indonesia and approx 160 in S'pore. In M'sia we had 15 teams.

Day 1
On the 1st day our team had fun and laughter while other teams were busy doing last minute analysis. We were well prepared as we had strategised our plan of attack way before the OTC. It now boils down to timing our entry points.

Having a teh tarik break relaxing...who said trading is stressful? No worries ha ha!

Day 2
Based on our team's trading strategy, 2 of our team members were in the top 20 individuals in the OTC who has the highest increase in portfolio, C Hun was no. 8 and I'm 17. On overall team effort, our team "Fun Gappers" was the 4th best in the OTC.

Day 3

Day 2 trading results was announced on the 3rd day before the opening of Day 3 trading hours. On Day 2's results, another one of our team member, Wai Ling, was in the top 10 individuals in the OTC. Several bellwether companies missed their earnings and the entire market was down big time. So even when Richard announced the Day 2 results, there were mixed feelings as Day 3 is going to be very very tough...Before the opening bell, everyone was in a sombre mood, those who had positions were preparing for the worse, some could not believe the crash was so bad. Some lost everything...it took everyone around 2 hours to accept the market crash and the losses incurred. Those more experienced traders took it in their stride much earlier.

On Day 3, we talked to many other traders and made some friends here and there. It was interesting listening to how they traded and analyse their companies. After the closing bell, we felt a bit sad OTC has ended as we were having lots of fun and enjoyed ourselves trading together and making friends here and there.

ya, we were having a lot of fun in these 3 days! The championship bring our trading experience up another level even though we did not win the prize this year (result:http://www.optionstradingchampionship.com/02_evnts07.html). We will definitely come back again in 2008!

Cheers!
